Great Barrier Reef

Here's a little green sea turtle I drew to glue on the postcard behind it. I forgot to take a photo of the completed back side of the postcard, it's going to my friend Heike, in Germany. I've swam with these majestic, graceful animals :).

Russian Embroidery

Looove this postage stamp sent on a postcard from Russia. It's actually 2 triangular self adhesive stamps, with a diagonal perforation separating the two. Interesting. The stamp is one of 4 in a series released in June 2020, depicting Decorative and Applied Arts of Russia - Embroidery. This particular stamp shows beautiful Tatarian embroidery. Hope I get the other 3! 

From This, To This

Elizabeth from Alaska sent me a blank sketch postcard in early November 

and today I took my time colouring it in following the colours on the back of the postcard using coloured pencils.

I'm so pleased with how it turned out! Elizabeth is an artist, so I'm thinking of returning her completed postcard in the mail as a gift. She wrote "It is -16F today (-26C) so I have a cozy fire in the woodstove. My three cats are all sleeping and the sunlight is bright on the snow outside. I'm thankful for this domestic comfort today." Beautiful words, it's such a pleasure receiving postcards like this ❄️💖 🌨️.

Matchy Matchy

A postcard I loved from the moment I received it, from Russia, of the Spasskaya chapel in Cherdyn, near the Ural mountains. 

Apparently there are a lot of beautiful churches in the area. I'm drawn to spiritual places, they have a non-wordly atmosphere about them, a hint and touch of something sacred, of something other than the material world we live in, and I will go into any religious place of worship just to feel its sense.

One of the stamps matches the postcard. Thank you Tanya for being so thoughtful in the matching, both stamps are large, and beautiful :).

Crabs on Christmas Island

The perfect postmark, from Christmas Island.  Although Christmas Island is an Australian Territory and is off the coast of my home state and the postmark includes my state's initials (WA), it is seriously very far away, and much closer to Indonesia. 

There are only 2 postcrossers from this small island so I was pretty stoked when I received a postcard from one of them :).  Both of them have sent about the same number of postcards, around about 260.
